I saw the Vox Hunt for prom pictures, but wasn't going to post anything. The pictures taken from the dance were hideous, plus if my date has finally come out and his partner happens to stumble upon this it might incite an awkward conversation. But then I remembered that my dad took some halfway decent photos while we were getting ready. That lead me to think about the day of the dance, so I thought I'd share the story with you.

Moody/Pouty

I grew up in BFE, well not really, but we did live in the middle of a state park, so getting to town could be a production. So I decided to get ready for prom at my former BFF Brittany's* house. I say former because we grew apart when she started dating a bunch of really lame wanna be gangsters, but by senior year we had reconnected somewhat, which is why I was at her house getting ready. The day of the prom also happened to be Brittany's birthday, so it was quite an exciting day for her, turning 18 and going to senior prom. As my dad was snapping away Brittany got a phone call from her total loser of a boyfriend. This guy was older and had allegedly gotten another girl at our school pregnant while he was dating Brittany, but she stuck with him for some unknown reason. So when Brittany answered the phone less than an hour before we were supposed to leave, we'll call him Randy Quaid** told her, "I'm not going to the dance." Brittany tried to reason with him, yell at him, etc, but he would not give in. She finally said fine and hung up. The loser kept calling back just to tell her yet again that he wasn't going to come. Brittany would say fine and hang up, she finally stopped picking up the phone.

As you can see from the pictures below by the time my dad got to taking any picture of her, she was extremely upset. In fact, you can see a stress rash on her shoulders, but I never saw her cry. The limo arrived and we tried to convince Brittany to come with us and to forget RQ, but she refused. We were all sure that she would miss the dance, but they both ended up showing up a few hours late. I never found out what RQ's problem was or how she convinced him to go in the end. I've since lost touch with Brittany. I wonder if she ever developed better taste in men
