This is what is happening this week and next:
Monday packed for the move. (While whole family was sick)
Tuesday: Anya turned 3! I gave two finals, cleaned at the new house, waited for a fridge to be delivered, went to Anya's last t-ball practice, and graded all of the papers for my Social class. (Still not feeling great)
Thursday: Anya has a doctor's appointment, and we need to unpack.
Friday: Anya and two of her playgroup friends are having a combo birthday party during playgroup. I need to make the sandwiches and find where I packed the napkins and plates before then.
Saturday: I get a haircut and pedicure while Anya is at gymnastics, followed by two toddler birthday parties within 1/2 hour of each other.
Sunday: Nothing? Except of course, unpacking and getting old house ready to be rented.
Monday: Same as Sunday.
Tuesday: Same as Monday.
Wednesday: Drive down to SoCal for a trip to Disneyland and CMC 10 year reunion!
Today is Anya's second birthday! We had a very low key day hanging out with Grammy. All of the excitement took place on Friday when we had a party at the park.
The party was lots of fun. We met at Children's Wonderland and staked out some tables in the shade. While the previous day saw temperatures in the triple digits it was a little bit cooler on Friday (only mid 90's by the time we left). The kids didn't seem to mind the heat that was melting the adults, though. The staff even set up a sprinkler and there were some wet toddlers before too long. Anya and one of her best friends even spent a little bit of naked baby time running around in the vicinity of the sprinkler, but neither were daring enough to run through the middle of the water stream.
After snacking and lots of playing we sang Happy Birthday and ate some delicious Tres Leches cake.
She also received some fantastic gifts: an absolutely adorable dress from Calimama, a fabulous hand-made tutu (now know as a "choo choo dress") from one of her best friends, a great swimming pool from Grammy, a train set and tea set from Mommy and Daddy, and much more.
On Saturday our baby Bubble Toes turned one! We had a nice party at the park for her with family and friends. She enjoyed playing in the dirt,
opening presents, looking at the picture book of her first year that we made for her, and eating cupcake. She received lots of great gifts (in lieu of presents we asked guests to consider a contribution to Heifer International):
2 Hives of Honeybees
2 Flocks of Geese
2 Flocks of Ducks
3 Flocks of Chicks
1 Trio of Rabbits
2 Shares of Tree seedlings
1 New Beginning Basket containing a lamb
1 Share of a Llama
She also got a dump truck, a push toy, a school bus, a pull toy duck, a book and some bath toys.
All in all it was a great birthday, but it's hard to believe that our baby is already one!
Updated to add: I almost forgot, taking after her buddy Jake, Bubble Toes also decided to start walking on her birthday. She particularly likes to walk while flinging her new duck pull toy about in the air.
