You be the judge. What do you think this baby is saying at the end of the video?
I fear Bubble Toes takes after Janette's adorable daughter. Now she just needs to figure out how to put them on the correct feet.
Today we took a field trip with some other moms and kids to Habitot. It was fun, overwhelming, but fun. It is a small
area filled with lots of activities for kids of all ages. Of course, Bubble Toes was most interested in the water tables and the finger painting wall.
But this is what I don't get. Why am I the only mom who ends up covered in paint, too? I just couldn't figure out a good way to pick up Bubble Toes to take her to wash her hands in the sink, without ending up covered in paint myself, yet somehow the rest of the moms did it. When I mentioned this to a paint free mom she said (jokingly), "I guess I'm just a better mom than you!"
Oh, and I also got reprimanded for changing a wet diaper in the hallway (on a pad) outside of the museum.
Anya's had quite a week so far. First she had her first pavement head
smack, going forehead first into the parking lot. And then today she was stung by a bee...inside the house! I don't know how the bee got in, but it must have been stunned by the cat and left for dead when Anya decided to pick it up. I gave her an ice pack and when I saw her finger start to turn even more into a sausage I gave her a small dose of benadryl. She actually reacted really well, only crying briefly after the sting. She cried for longer and harder today when I wouldn't let her rip up my book! So I'm glad to know she doesn't seem to be allergic and now I know what to expect the next time. Here she is just a few minutes after the sting, enjoying her sunglasses.
On Saturday we went to the All-Star Game fan fest with gift tickets. There was lots for kids to do, but not much for the toddler set. We did get Anya's first baseball card made. She's quite a slugger, hitting close to .350! She received many compliments on her outfit, but most people called it a cheerleading uniform. Not that I have anything against cheerleaders, but I hope that when she's old enough she will be on the field playing, not on the sidelines cheering.
I'm not one of those bugaboo moms that everyone has been talking about, but today I did indulge myself with a much needed hot stone massage. Bubble Toes and Chris gave me a spa gift card for mother's day and I finally finished the stuff I needed to do (dissertation revisions) and organized a babysitter so that I could use it. My back was tight from an extended hike yesterday with the backpack (I got lost), so I decided a massage would be delightful. And I was right! I put Bubble Toes down for a nap right before the babysitter came and told her that I would be gone when she woke up, but that I would be back shortly. Turns out I lied. When I got back two hours later she was still asleep. She woke up about 1/2 hour later and never knew I was gone!
