First Annual Party Like a Toddler Fondue Extravaganza

Awesome! What a great way to get some New Year's fun in for both the grownups and tots! It looks like fun was had by all. And I love Anya's party dress!
How fun!! Love the kids menu - and you can never go wrong with fondue! Happy new year!
Thanks! We really did have a great time. Usually we are so boring on NYE, so it was nice to actually do something festive and not have to worry about getting home afterwards!
Thanks! I love fondue. Cheese and chocolate are two of my favorite things so any opportunity to eat copious amounts of both is one that I am sure to enjoy!
That sounds likea wonderful idea! I might have to steal it for next year! We've stayed home the past two years because of Nate - not wanting to find a babysitter, too tired to stay out until the wee hours of the morning, etc.

What a great idea! My 3.5 year old would love a party like that.

Cute pics.

You are brave! We love fondue, and I was thinking of having a small fondue party New Year's Eve with another couple. But I was afraid of trying to do it with Jake around. I guess we could've waited till after he went to bed, but I guess since I ended up being sick it's better we didn't plan it anyway.

Glad to hear yours went so well -- maybe I'll have the guts to try it next year. After all, #2 won't be too mobile by then!

I somehow missed this post! Sorry for the delayed comment! What a fabulous idea. Cheese and chocolate - mmmmmmmm. Can I come over next year? ;)
Thanks! It worked out so well. We got to have fun with our friends with very little stress and not feel lame even though we were asleep before midnight ;)
Thank you! It think it is a party that will continue to work even as the kids get older, which is nice.
Not so brave, blissfully ignorant, maybe! I love fondue, too. We are planning a couples night out at Melting Pot in Larkspur, think you guys would be up for coming out this way?

Anyway, I cooked the cheese and chocolate on the stove and then put the pots on the table foregoing the open flame. Everything stayed fairly warm and liquidy. The kids couldn't reach the pots and were too busy running around smashing their own food into the floor and throwing things down the stairs to even pay attention the the adults. Instead of sitting down to eat (too many people not enough chairs) I had two pot for each the cheese and chocolate (I had to borrow 2 sets) and people just milled around. I filled my plate with a bunch of things dipped them all and then went and sat down somewhere to eat and repeated that a bunch of times. I think the only potentially dangerous part was the skewers as people would set them down on low tables and forget about them or gesture with one in their hands as a kiddo ran by. Luckily there were no puncture wounds.

I think we will do it again next year. The prep was minimal as I bought as much pre-cut produce as I could find and the clean-up wasn't too bad either. If you don't get up the nerve to host your own, we'd love to have you come to ours. I thought about sending you the evite, but thought you probably wouldn't want to drive that far on NYE.
Thanks! We'd love to have you next year. The drive might be killer, but you could always sleep over ;)
We have a Melting Pot here that we've always wanted to check out. But making a couples night out of it sounds even better, even if it is all the way in Larkspur ;) Let us know when you plan on doing it, and hopefully we'll be able to make it!
